Water-soluble, nonionic cellulose ether. Used to give water retention in water-based paints and varnishes, to control rheology and consistency of waterbased paints, to stabilize pigments and fillers, as a binding and viscosity control agent in enamels, as a thickener of printing inks, and in textile coatings. Can be used as a protective colloids, suspending agent and binder and stabilizer.
